How to make the perfect Budgie box?

I have been breeding budgies for 20 years and this is the design that I have settled on. They are simple to make so I'm able to make a lot in a short time and they can be used for other birds as well.
Buy a box
There is more to a budgie box design than just a box with an entrance, don't get me wrong budgies will nest almost anywhere and that is why they are great for beginners. One of the biggest problems with most budgie box designs is that the entrance is to close to the floor which allows the chicks to get out of the nest before they should. This design keeps them in the box until they are ready to fly.

With the budgie box being made from plywood and the joints being glued together the boxes will last for years. You will decide that they are no longer able to be clean to a satisfactory condition and need to be throw away before the box starts to come apart.

You can make your boxed from our free downloadable plans.
